designshop is seeking a Project Architect with an eye for design, the creativity to make something unique, and the technical know-how to build a solid and functional structure. 

We are looking for a creative, highly motivated, and inspired Project Architect to handle projects from the initial client briefing through to the final stages of construction. Responsibilities include managing client relationships, developing and presenting design solutions, preparing drawings, specifications, budgets, construction documents, and managing project teams. To be a good fit, you should be able to take ownership of your projects, be it the design and construction of a new commercial building, an extension, alterations or a restoration project, and deliver on the client's requirements and the firm’s standards.

To be successful in this position you should be able to generate and produce creative solutions, visualize space in three dimensions, have a good understanding of construction technologies, and be an effective project manager. An outstanding Project Architect will have strong interpersonal skills, demonstrate superior technical design skills and be able to create elegant designs that are functional, safe, progressive, efficient, sustainable, and in some cases highly innovative.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist in managing aesthetic standards of design and graphics.

• Develop standards and/or processes related to firm identity.

• Work closely with partners and team members.

• Provide positive, constructive criticism to the project team regarding project process and client interaction.

• Meeting with clients and determining their needs and requirements.

• Managing design projects from concept development through to completion.

• Developing and presenting design concepts.

• Adjusting designs and plans to meet the client's needs.

• Preparing sketches, drawings, specifications, and construction documents.

• Conducting research and compiling reports on feasibility and environmental impact.

• Complying with safety standards and local planning regulations.

• Determining and adhering to budgets and timelines.

• Managing project teams and collaborating with other construction professionals.

Requirements:

• Open, honest, courteous, confident, have a fun spirit, considerate, organized, and a builder of others.

• Modern design sensibilities with strong graphic and communication skills.

• Degree in architecture or a related field.

• 5 - 10 years of experience as an Architect preferred.

• Licensed Architect with NCARB certificate preferred.

• Jobsite/in-field experience and awareness of construction methods and materials; detail precisely, write or edit product specifications using Speclink.

• Possess an understanding of how buildings are assembled and constructed and the detailing required to do so 

• Excellent technical drawing skills.

• Strong communication and project management skills.

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office, Google Workplace, and software programs such as AutoCAD, Revit, Adobe Creative Suite, etc.

• Good interpersonal and presentation skills.

• Knowledge of building codes and regulatory standards.

• Strong creative and visualization skills.

• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation and consultation skills.
